Our environmental actions

ENVIRONMENTAL APPROACH

The planet is our common home, let's preserve it..

Raising environmental awareness is no longer an option today. Everyone must have their share of responsibility in the choices of their actions. Here is some of ours:

~> We preserve the air:

- Our accommodation is all partially or totally made of wood. Did you know that 1m3 of wood, taking into account manufacturing and transport, sustainably stores 460kg of co², while 1 m3 of concrete emits 471 kg of co².
- the area is closed to vehicle traffic which remains in the parking lot at the entrance. We take our customers by electric golf cart to the car park to collect their luggage, then to their accommodation. Pedestrians ; Bicycles, scooters and horses are of course allowed to circulate freely wherever they wish.
- when you come to have a Mojito at the bar, the mint comes directly from our plantation
- we indicate the daily local markets in the welcome booklet in order to encourage customers to consume locally (less transport = less pollution)
- accommodation and common areas are disinfected only with natural ecological bactericidal disinfectant

~> We preserve water:

- no chemical fertilizer is used for the development of vegetation or for the treatment of "weeds", the elbow grease used is natural; -)
- water-saving shower heads and tap aerators are available in all of our accommodation and in common water points
- almost all accommodations are equipped with thermostatic mixers coupled with ""Hydrao Aloé"" shower heads, saving up to 70% of water

~> We are reducing our energy consumption:

- all our lighting is LED, The exterior lights are twilight and/or solar
- the maintenance equipment is electric (except the lawn tractor)
- the premises of the swimming pool, the Komodo chalet, the store reserve, the reception and the parking chalet are equipped with photovoltaic panels for a total of 36 panels of 420 W. Other buildings will be equipped with them over the coming months.
- the internal operating devices (washing machines, dryers, freezers, dishwashers) have all been selected for their energy coefficient among the best on the market
- cottages, chalets, cabins and eco-lodges are equipped with electric load shedding
- hot water pipes located in open places are all insulated
- all accommodations are equipped with wifi switches. This allows us to have electricity consumption statistics and above all to turn off each accommodation after departure. This will save several hundred kilowatts per year (statistics too recent to indicate precisely).
- many devices and lighting are managed and automated via wifi (pool lighting, reception rooms, collective water heaters, etc.).), this makes it possible to optimize the consumption of each device and detect electrical anomalies in order to save several hundred kilowatts per year (statistics too recent to be indicated precisely)

~> We reduce our waste:

- selective sorting of garbage is required and we require our customers to respect it scrupulously, according to the instructions in the welcome booklet
- our welcome kit is entirely digital and avoids the printing of hundreds of sheets per year
- ""stop advertising"" stickers are offered to you at reception to install at home
- the bar straws are made of paper, the sugar is in a dispenser and not in pods
- the bed linen is washable and therefore not disposable as in too many campsites
- sheets of paper are often reused as sheets of drafts or drawings for children
- customer files are in digital version, only a minimum of sensitive information is exclusively in paper version in order to avoid hacking and to comply with GDPR regulations
- the satisfaction questionnaire is only digital and saves several kilos of paper per year
- your bath products offered are in solid form: this saves water and greatly increases the number of uses compared to a liquid equivalent

~> We preserve biodiversity:

- every year we plant new trees, shrubs and plants. The majority are robust evergreens adapted to a future warmer climate which lose few leaves and fruit trees whose fruits delight birds and our customers.
- around thirty bird nest boxes are distributed throughout the area.
- refuges for bees, hedgehogs, bats and insect hotels, as well as traps for Asian hornets fed with leftover wine and cider are installed in several strategic locations
- our brochures are made from recycled paper, the number of print runs is reduced to a minimum and we focus instead on digital for our marketing
- a battery collection bin is located at reception
- the chickens, goats and giant rabbits collect the food waste from the establishment and that of our customers. If in doubt about a food to give them, please consult us first.
- our Ouessant sheep mow part of the estate and reduce mowing by tractor
- the welcome kit, as well as the bathroom products provided in each accommodation, are all eco-labelled (and also assembled by ESATs).

WHAT YOU CAN DO WELL DURING YOUR STAY

- Turn off the light when leaving an unused room and the television when you are not watching it

- Remember to turn off the light on the terrace of your accommodation when coming inside, leaving or going to bed
- Turn off the heating when the doors/windows are open and when you leave
- Put a lid on pots and pans, your container will heat up faster
- Leave the refrigerator turned off and open at the end of your stay
- Leave bed linen not unfolded or used during your stay on the table or on the unused bed when leaving
- Report any leak or anomaly to reception
- Place recyclable packaging in the yellow container, glasses in the glass container, leftover goat and chicken feed, non-sortable household waste in the green container, batteries and light bulbs in the reception bin. For the rest: www.ourecycler.fr
- Stop the water when nothing is under the tap, even for a few seconds, in the shower, turn off the water when changing from shower gel
- Do not reach the flashing red level indicated on the Hydrao shower head when taking a shower, a quick and efficient shower is ideal
- Be clean to go to the swimming pool. Each bather requires a water supply of 30 to 300 liters depending on personal hygiene, it's up to you
- Take a walk without taking your car: the beach is a 7-minute walk away, the Ponto woods have direct access, the small shops in the center are 15 minutes away
